We recognize that visiting a new church can be intimidating, and that you will want to know how we can help your children learn and grow in their relationship with Jesus. Here you will find a brief description of the different services we provide for children as well as our precautionary safety procedures. On Sundays, feel free to make use of any of these services or to keep your children with you during the service. We also have a live audio feed of the service in the foyer for you if your child may be too much of a distraction but would like to keep them with you out there. We want you to be able to do what feels most comfortable for you and your children. Upon your arrival, I would personally love to meet you, answer any questions that you may have about our Children’s Ministries, and point you in the right direction with your kids.
Sincerely,
Chanda Renner – Children’s Ministry Sunday Coordinator
9 and 11 am Sunday Services
Nursery (Birth – 2 years old) –Parents can drop their children before the service begins. When signing your child in, you will receive a pager. We use pagers both to communicate with parents and as a security measure. Please make sure that the same adult returns the pager at time of pickup so we can ensure that we are returning children to their proper parent or guardian.
Preschool (3-5 years old) – Parents please bring your child in at the beginning of the sermon. This class has a mixture of playtime and Bible lesson from the Answers Bible Curriculum. Pagers are available upon request.
Children’s Church (6-7 years old) – Children can be dismissed at the beginning of the sermon to go upstairs for this class. Parents must come to pick up their children at the end of the service. This class uses curriculum from Answers Bible Curriculum to teach through the whole Bible from cover to cover.
Vacation Bible School
This year’s Vacation Bible School theme will be “Jungle Journey” from Answers in Genesis. The dates are July 22-25, 9:30 am to 12 noon. Kids going into Kindergarten through 5th grade are welcome and there is no cost to attend.
Safety and Security
At Good Shepherd we take the safety of children very seriously and as such ensure that all of our volunteers have received a background check and have been attending and involved in the church for a period of time before they are entrusted to work with children. All of our teachers have also gone through our church membership process and been interviewed. We also have security cameras monitoring our doors and a safety team to keep watch during our service.
